    super back dated posts.

ok this is going to be VERY VERY (x10) long. So bear with it..:)

    25th June 2007
After so many moons of yearning and praying and repeatative cycles of dissapointments and hopes...a glimpse of joy entered our lives on Sunday morning when a HPT is done with one of those left overs I bought over the internet. It showed a BFP!!! Not wanting to place hopes too high, we decided to wait till today to test again on the clearblue digital and once again it showed "PREGNANT".

Surely the lines were much clearer than those that I saw some one year plus ago. And this time, I really pray that God will preserve this being that is in me. Maybe this part of LJ will be made open soon....

First test on the 24th June. 2nd digital test on the 25th June.

    28 June 2007
Its brewing in me and is 5 weeks old. Expected to arrive on the 27th Feb. So far, just boobies pain and tons of gas and burping quite often. Apart from that, slight cramps occassionally. doc gave me 3 weeks of hormone pills and one month of folic acid.

My Krabi trip is to be postponed cancelled.

    11 July 2007
Today went for the 2nd visit to see little "somebody". Got to see a jelly bean looking figure from the ultrasound machine monitor. With a heartbeat (something which my doc pointed out but somehow i couldn't see it clearly.)

"Somebody" is at 0.72cm and is 6weeks and 2 days old. The edd is changed to 03.03.08. Well, what a date.

Total cost today, $101. Weight gained 1.3kg. Doc gave me another week's worth of Duphaston and the next appointment will be on the 25th Jul (2 weeks later). Till then, grow healthy and stay strong!!

    20 July 2007
I think I'm starting to get one of those pregnant woman syndromes. Sotong-ness and forgetfulness. For the past few days, have been feeling so bloated that life is just not fun. with all that discomfort, sometimes I wish they could go away quickly and especially the 1st 3 months could just pass by in a wink of an eye. But too bad, the time is going by so slowly. Also if it were to go by in a whiz, would I be missing out 3 months of pregnancy? haha. Contradiction.:p

Anyways, why do i say that I am getting sotong? Well, I was supposed to administer a total of 3 tablets one day, 2 in the morning and 1 at night. However last night, I had 2 in the morning and 2 at night. I only realised it when I started to taste the tablet when the water was in the mouth. Then I realised. Why did I eat that when I wasn't supposed to? Maybe I wanted to finish them quickly..haha.

Anyways, I hope there will not be an overdose. What I ate extra is the folic acid. Which comes with some added ingredient called Pyridoxine Hydrochloride. The tablet is made up of Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (100mg) and Folic Acid (5mg). Its not the folic that I am worried about cos I know any overdose would just be dispelled in my pee. Its the other one which I am more concerned. Hmm...The whole night after taking it, I felt quite bloated. Now I am starting to suspect if this medicine is the one that causes me to feel bleah.

This morning, I have not taken that medication as I intend to take it in the afternoon in case it will really be an overdose..:p However, I am not feeling quite "bleah" at the moment. Could it be the medication? I dunno.

Another 5 more days before the next visit. Hope all is well.

    25 July 2007
Its another visit to see little "Somebody" and to take a picture. So far 3 pictures have been taken (all even before he/she is on earth). Maybe that's the reason why some people just love to take pictures.

"Somebody" is at 2.31cm today, 9 wks 2days old and looks like a little kidney bean. It has 4 things (known to be legs and hands) sticking out of the bean and there was a black spot where the eyes are and the doc showed me the clearer looking heartbeat. One bonus, she let us hear the sound and the thump thump thump of the heartbeat. How amazing.

Anyhows, "Somebody" will be expected to be arriving on the 25th Feb. This is the third change. Seems like every visit there's a change..:p I just have this feel that it will come on the 29th Feb.

Doc once again gave me 15days worth of Duphaston and 30 days worth of folic acid (the one that i took an extra a few days ago). Weight gain 200 grams...so happy. Damage, S$135. Starting next month, its only cash transactions only. Next visit, 2 weeks time, National Day Eve.

Till then, stay strong and keep growing. Thank you God.

Went for my 4th visit today. With much anticipation of wanting to see little "Somebody" we waited at the lounge. Finally my turn came. DId the usual, laid on the "bed" and unbuttoned the pants for the doc to do the scan. Measurements were taken, heartbeat was heard. However the printout didn't include the details. Sigh.

The edd is changed to 24th Feb 2008. In my 11wk3days. Don't know how long the CRL is but well, as long as "Somebody"'s still growing, its not an issue. After all that measurement, "Somebody" literally did a jerk. Like those doing the breakdance caterpillar move but on the back. Awesome. It looked cute and "floaty", probably cos its in the water. haha. Saw the hands wave and legs move a little as well. Active little thing and the heartbeat was really strong. Next visit will be one month later.

Signed up for the package which includes appointed appointments, scans, urine test, vits and calcium pills. Fish oil, blood test, other scans not included. Oh I got robbed of my blood as well. Two tubes. Total cost this time round, S$720 ($600 for package, $80 for blood test, $40 for fish oil). One hole in the pocket.

Finally, I am done with Duphaston!!!! So happy. No more white little pills but still got to finish up my 2 weeks worth of folic before i start on the other supplements. Can't wait. Nausea is also subsiding and i feel slightly better although there's still sometimes whereby the feeling will return, especially after eating. My weight reduced to 60.1 which I am quite happy about. However, i think more weight will be coming onto me on the way.

Anyways, we decided that this day would be the day where we break the news to our parents and so we did. First went to my parents then my inlaws. Got a treat at Crystal Jade from my parents for lunch and well, the news was only broken to my mother in law as she was the only one at home at that moment and guess she'll go tell the rest of the tribe.

Next visit will be one month later (5th Sept). Will wait till then and there'll be another update..:)

    31 Aug 2007
In about a weeks's time (rather in 5 days time), I will be going for my next visit. Some friends have started telling me that "Somebody" inside is a boy (not sure how they got to that conclusion) but personally, i'm not really sure. So maybe from now till the truth is out (hopefully by the next visit) you guys can start to guess first.

Will it be a boy or a girl?

    10 Sept 2007
As much as you may think that I know the gender (based on the last post), sorry I don't know..muaahahaha..

Thing is that when we went to see "Somebody" on Wednesday (5/9), he/she didn't really cooperate. If you look at the picture later, you will know. However, the doctor mentioned that it would most likely to be a girl but not too conclusive. So, I guess we got to wait till the next visit (3/10) or the detailed scan (17/10) to be conclusive. Anyhow, the poll is still valid and if you want to cast your poll, just do it..:p

So what's up in the last visit? I only gained 600g so far...YIPPEEEE!!!! The doc measured the tigh bone, head circumference and waist thickness, and guess what?? All three measurements give a different EDD. -_-'''. So what can I say? Now am speculating that the baby would come out anytime from 14th Feb till 29th Feb. Just hope that the baby doesn't come out during 15 days of the CNY else a hole would be burnt in my pocket for the confinement lady. Yes, I have confirmed the confinement lady but yet to give the deposit.

What else would be coming up? My antenatal classes. Will update more about it when the class start. But for now, it would be just waiting for the bulge to be bigger and waiting for the fetal movements. Have not taken any picture of the bulge yet but will surely do it soon..:) For now, the reason of why the gender cannot be seen...

Just in case you are an ultrasound idiot like me, the round thing on the right is the head with the face looking down. If you look carefully enough, you would be able to see the ear The molehill looking thing that is whitish is the placenta. The belly is above the placenta. So now you know why the gender couldn't be determined. haha.

At the right bottom corner, are the meausrements. First measurement (FL) is the tigh bone measurement (1.88cm with EDD 23/2). Second measurement (AC) is the waist measurement (9.09cm with EDD 25/2). With this measurement, the baby's weight could be estimated as well at 120g. The third measurement (HC) is the head circumference (10.61cm with EDD 27/2).

    20 Sept 2007
After one week of contemplation and comparisons and looking around and experimenting, we've finally gotten the #1 item out of the many many items, THE CAR SEAT. Its really a tough choice and there's just too many in the market. And since such things are not cheap, we decided to get one that will last for the maximum period of time. So these are just some conditions and considerations that we have to look into as well.

Where we went to...oh..many places. Kaki Bukit (2 baby hyperstores), Isetan (Scotts & Parkway), OG, John Little, Mothercare (Parkway & Centerpoint), Kiddy Palace & Robinsons (City Hall & Centerpoint). All within a week. You can imagine the number of seats we saw. haha. Saw quite a few pretty ones, expensive ones, exaggerating ones (seriously, some look like one of those seats you can find in the 1st class of a A380), etc. At least now we know what are some of the brands, which are expensive, which are not. They have Britax, Safe n Sound, Combi, Aprico, Ferrari (Yes as in the sports car), Maxi Cosi, Safety 1st, Graco, Peg Perego, etc.

We even went to the extent of peering into cars in our car parks that have car seats in their cars to see what others are using. Finally we just decided on the one that was on sale and could last up till the babe is a toddler of 4 yrs. Cost us S$179 (U.P $318.40) from Safety 1st.

Really hope that this is a good buy and that I won't regret buying it (even though it was sponsored). Well, one down and next up would be either the stroller or the cot for now. Smaller items will wait till Christmas period or when there's a fair or when someone wants to pass down..:p

    25 Sept 2007
Ok this is a back dated post and I can't exactly remember when this happened. So I'm just going to post it as an estimated date. I should think that it was around week 16+ going 17 that I started feeling the baby. Initially, I couldn't really confirm cos I tot it was gas that was moving around in the tummy area. But then as days passed, the feeling of something poking me from the inside got more and I was thinking that it couldn't be gas cos I dun think I was that gassified. So it was more or less confirmed that it was the baby's movement, but however, I still couldn't confirm cos normally people mention that you'll be able to feel the movements only around week 20? Mine's an early developer I guess. Either that or my skin isn't that thick. haha.

So how does it feel like? It feels like something/someone taking a stick and poking you from the inside. Not painful but ticklish and its got a weird feeling. Hard to describe. Like a worm moving inside you. haha.. ok Gross. Anyways, its just a sensation that is indescribable.

These few days (the time when this is typed, 5th Oct, 19weeks) the movements are stronger and kicks are getting somewhere. Its sometimes so strong that when you place your palm on the abs, you will be able to feel it. I remember once, when we played Beethovan's Fur Elise over the player, "Somebody" gave us a violent kick and it was the first time the husband felt it and he was amazed. Recently, while the husband was trying to do some "communication" with the baby by putting the ear on the tum, he got kicked in the face. Muahahaha.

Anyways, more updates will be coming in these next few days. When I get the time to upload the pics from the phone to the comp. There's still more episodes to come...Antenatal class and the long awaited GENDER Reveal from the last visit..:p keep you all in suspense first..hahaha

    22 Oct 2007
Ok I know this is WAYYYYyyyyy overdue. I was supposed to update on million and one things on "somebody" but haven't gotten my butt to go do it. haha. Call it laziness tiredness/lethargy of a pregnant woman. :p

    What has happened so far...

  • completed 4/6 of the antenatal class
  • found out gender of baby. psst...."Somebody" is an XX (if you are familiar with chromosomes)
  • gotten a name (english and chinese name)
  • did the detailed scan
  • put on 3kgs (or even more now)
  • baby is weighing at more than 350g
  • what have been bought so far: carseat, ceiling fan for baby room, baby's cabinet, sofa bed to be put in baby room
  • what have been given: one pack of 7 rompers, one pack of 3 tie front tops, one pack of 4 receiving blankets, one pack of 12 handkerchiefs, one infant sock

So far, experiences with the hospital that I am going to deliver in is not that fantastic. Maybe because I'm comparing it to too many other private hospitals. But well, I guess such stuff (freebies, classes, etc) are secondary. Have to wait till the day I deliver then probably will get better treatment..:p

Antenatal classes are information overload sessions. I doubt I can remember all that was spoken and the people conducting them were quite erm...(no comments). So now I am left with another 2 more classes which are exercise classes which are supposingly help me in the delivery and the getting back to shape postpartum. Freebies wise when I signed up for the class, they were quite pathetic. Even KKH gives out more stuff. Gosh. Couldn't believe it. Got pictures of my freebies but just didn't get to upload them. So pics will come later. :p

Gender of baby. The final verdict...XX. haha. The name will be Netanya Teo. ÕŶ÷»Û. If you still can't figure out the gender, try looking at the name..;p

The detailed scan was not what I expected to be. When I went for the scan, I felt as if I was about to be slaughtered in that cold room. the husband was not allowed to be inside with me and I had to be alone, bearing my tummy and allowing tons of jelly to be slapped on it before the scan was done. The sonographer was not that friendly. Maybe cos she didn't like to talk much. So she didn't actually explain what she was looking at on the screen and I had to figure them out with the words that accompanied the many printscreens that she was doing. At the end of it all, she just said 4 words. "Your baby is ok." Then after she left, the husband was then allowed to come in to look at the 3D image of the baby's face and to hear the heartbeat. A huge XRay film was collected at the end with all the printscreens and hopefully in the next visit to the doc, she'll explain in more details. sigh. The cost. $181.90 (incl. GST).

The next doc's appointment will be on the 31st Oct (Trick or Treat). During the last visit, I basically put on 3KGs and the doc told me to slow down on the weight increase. Not that I eat alot but I'm not sure how come the weight shot up. Well, hopefully on the 31st it would be just a limit of 2kg or less.

There's no pics this time round. Maybe I will upload them soon..lalala..:P

Well, we've have been buying stuff on and off and recently with some sale going on, here are some stuff that were bought.

bbcotsheet.jpg image by michileighbbdrawer.jpg image by michileighbbfittedsheet.jpg image by michileigh
L to R: Rubber mat for the cot, 3 tier drawer from Ikea, Fitted sheet in purple
bbgrooming.jpg image by michileighbbheadsupport.jpg image by michileighbbnappy.jpg image by michileigh
L to R: Grooming kit, Head support in pink, Cloth nappies
bbnasal.jpg image by michileighbbsocks.jpg image by michileigh
L to R: Something to clear mucus, cuff socks.

Total spent (for picturized items) around S$150.

Things that's not picturized: Baby Cot (with mattress and 9 piece bedding), Sofa Bed for the room, Ceiling fan for the room, Avent Starter Kit

    Amount spent: S$650 (approx)

Of course there's more to come (stroller, sterlizer, toiletries, etc) and clothes wise, my mum has been buying quite a few which I am quite deprived of but I still managed to get a dress for the baby for the baby shower and also a set of 4 rompers (not in pink). There's still some big items to get and we are not done yet. So I'm going to add to the economy of Singapore again soon in the next few weeks.

Although its like preparing for a baby room, I feel like I'm preparing for a baby house. Gosh. One more human being in the family definitely take alot of money and time. Plus not adding in the fact that there's so many nice but redundant stuff in the market that tempts first time mothers to be to get. Must keep a sane and focussed mind especially when come to shopping for the baby.

    7 Nov 2007
More stuff were bought from kidzloft (again).

bbcradle.jpg image by michileigh bbbumper.jpg image by michileigh bbcotton.jpg image by michileigh
L to R: Safety 1st Baby Cradle, Full Cot bumper, Annakku Cotton
Not in pic: Thermal Receiving Blanket,
    Amount spent: $100+

Also went to Isetan wanting to buy a food warmer but in the end didn't buy. Ended up buying 2 pairs of long pants for the baby for sleeping. One pair cost $6.90.

We're eyeing on this stroller..;p Cost: $530 (after discount)
    p3.jpg image by michileigh

    10 Jan 2008
So I realised that there hasn't been much updating of "Somebody" aka Netanya Teo in the recent months. Reason being, tiredness, busyness, laziness, etc. So I'm into the 7th month of the pregnancy now and I look like a penguin (I walk like one too *sigh*).

Most of the stuff have been bought and got quite a few hand me downs from my sister-in-law (playmat, clothes, loose mittens and booties, more clothes, bath tub, bassinet car seat).

One thing that I'm still in a dilema is that, I'm still a little confused over breast feeding and expressing and storing and all that. I'm confused cos I am not sure if I should buy more bottles, storage bags, etc. Its a chicken and egg thing. Should I buy to prepare risking the fact that there may not be a supply or should I wait till the supply is there then buy.

So what I got so far:
    - Avent Starter kit (2 small bottles, 2 big bottles, bottle brush, pacifier)
    - one small Avent bottle from ESH
    - stage 1 and stage 2 teats
    - Medela nipple cream
    - Avent manual pump (passed down)
    - about 11 glass bottles with caps without teats (passed down)
    - 2 boxes of breast pads (passed down)
    - a pair of thongs

Not sure if just these are enough for a start to see what happens to the supply. Sterlizer and warmer not bought yet. The man of the house wants to use the pot and fire to sterilize and warmer, I was thinking if I am not going to intend to introduce the bottle to baby yet, so I should just wait before I get the warmer. Unless really is a desert in me then will start getting all that needs to make milk and the warmer won't be necessary. So any suggestions?

In the last check up, scans showed that baby will be due on the 3/3, 5/3, 2/3. Depending on which part of the body the measurement is taken from. Next check up will be on the 16th and we'll see how fickle my little girl is again. I'm just hoping that she will not come out anytime during the 15 days of the Chinese New Year.

So what's the weight so far. At 30 weeks, baby is at 1.5kg, mummy put on 8-9kg compared to pre-pregnant period.

    Candles and more

Starting on the 3rd April, it was the first cake that led to 2 others. The staff in the office had our usual birthday cake for the people in the month. So the cake was shared by me and another colleague. The cake was known as a lapis cake. Didn't take any pictures but if you could imagine a kueh laips but thicker layers and with chocolate powder covering the cake. That's Lapis Cake. Baked by another colleague who always bakes cakes on the birthday months.

The 13th April, went to starhub to purchase the handphone. Had a hard time deciding what to get. was shopping around and thinking if I should choose between a camera or a handphone, finally settled for a handphone.
Turn out, there was a $88 discount cos of a promotion that's going on..:)

On the 14th, there was work to do so i was at work but a surprise came from the youths..;) They bought me a cake...

Which I tot was quite cute..aha. Especially the old man..:p

Then there was another bigger cake brought by one of the church leaders. A chocolate cake. But I didn't take any pictures. This time, I shared the cake with the rest of the April babies that were in the youth group and we sang a birthday song to ourselves. haha

Later that evening, went back to my parents' place for dinner. It has been such a long time since I celebrated my birthday with my family and it was a nice feeling. Though no big surprises but its just a nice to celebrate with family.

More celebration will be coming this week with a trip to Mt Faber, having two of my girlfriends over when Jon is not around and also a all girls' stayover..:p Looking forward to it.
